Mysterious lights flashing in the sky above a city during the day have been compared to an alien fleet – with one top UFO expert believing it is an example of contact with extraterrestrials.
Haley Cummins was hosting some friends at her home in Spartanburg, South Carolina, when they spotted the mysterious presence hanging over them.
“We had some friends over and a few of them were outside,” she said.
“They noticed my neighbours staring at the sky and asked what was going on.”
Amazed at what she was seeing, the 27-year-old photographer recorded the phenomenon and shared the footage with an online community of UFO watchers.
The video shows several lights flashing against the clouds, with no obvious pattern or shape to link them.
Hayley’s clip quickly gathered thousands of views on the TikTok social media app.
When the clip was posted to Reddit, it sparked a frenzy of theories.
One compared it to an “alien fleet”, while others suggested it was atmospheric electricity, and one person said it was perhaps ice crystals in the clouds catching the light.
A friend of Haley’s suggested it was some of the Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX – but Haley isn’t convinced.
“I don’t think it’s that, simply because you can see the lights in the darkest of clouds and in the brightest spots as well,” she said.
“It just didn’t look like something ‘natural’ to me in person.”
Haley is keeping an open mind about the possibility of something from another world.
She said: “I fully believe there are other intelligent beings outside of our realm of understanding and existence.
“Even if what I saw was satellites passing by, it awed me and made my life feel a little more magical that night!”
But UFO hunter Scott Waring believes the video is proof of contact with extraterrestrials.
On his UFO Sightings Daily blog, Scott said: “The eyewitness and his family were standing in the back yard when he noticed a sparkling in the clouds above.
“The sparkling continued for several minutes and happened in different locations, but always near the cloud. The sparkling is from a UFO fleet of orbs.
“This is a fantastic catch because we see the location well, the scope of the sky well and the flashing.”
From the coronavirus to Brexit, this is an era of great change and uncertainty. Events in Parliament have rarely been so crucial – or confusing.
Our daily politics newsletter is there at 8.30am to guide you through these turbulent times.
Written by the Mirror’s Head of Politics Jason Beattie it includes sharply-written commentary, a concise overview of events in Westminster and a sprinkling of gossip. There’s then a 4.30pm bullet-point update with the day’s headlines.
He goes on to say he has ‘communicated’ with similar craft: “They sometimes communicate with flashes and if you actually hit one with a laser (which I have) they will flash back within 3 seconds.”
Scott also believes that aliens are increasing their activity on Earth, and claims to have documented a lot of recent activity on his blog.
